Dr. Ayşe Berna Uçarol is a researcher in the field “Science, Technology, and Society” (STS) at the Orient-Institut Istanbul where she has been engaged in the MediCluster Project since February 2025. She is involved in the project titled “Production Practices of Medical Devices in Innovation Clusters: A Comparative Analysis of Tuttlingen, Sialkot, and Samsun”.

She received her Ph.D. from the Department of General Sociology and Methodology at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSGSU) with a dissertation titled The whirlpool of working life: Company experiences of white-collar workers in Istanbul in the 2000s”. During and after her doctoral studies, she took part in various qualitative and ethnographic field research projects as both a researcher and project coordinator. These projects were conducted under the auspices of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme, and various civil society organizations, focusing on labor, youth, prison, and disaster studies. Since 2013, she has been teaching sociology courses at several foundation universities. Between 2012 and 2024, she produced the radio program “Emeğin Gündemi” (The Labor Agenda) on Apaçık Radyo. Since 2024, she has been the producer of “Gündelik Hayatın Sosyolojisi” (The Sociology of Everyday Life).
